Jason, originally from Lafayette, LA, is currently the Director of Christian Formation for Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge.  He has previously taught theology at Catholic High of Baton Rouge and served at St. Isidore Catholic Church, as Director of Religious Education and Youth Ministry.  He graduated from LSU with a B.A. in Anthropology in 2008 and Notre Dame Seminary with an M.A. in Theological Studies in 2012.  He has been involved in various aspects of ministry in both the Dioceses of Lafayette and Baton Rouge since 2004 including; leading worship, speaking, and coordinating retreats among other things.  Jason is a talented musician, worship leader, and song writer.  He is currently a presenter for the NFCYM’s initiative “Strong Catholic Familes, Strong Catholic Youth”.  He has also co-hosted “The Way Home” on WPYR Baton Rouge Catholic Community Radio.  He currently resides in Baton Rouge with his wife Lauren and their three children Magdalene, Jude, and Adele.


Katie Austin

Katie has been involved in leadership training, facilitation, and ministry since 1997.  Originally from Lafayette, LA, she trained and led the Lafayette Diocesan Retreat Team.  Katie graduated from Tulane University in Marketing and Business Law. After graduating she moved to Birmingham, AL, where she worked for Southern Living Magazine and coordinated the Junior High Youth Ministry program at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.  After moving to Baton Rouge in the fall 2005, she played an integral part in the creation and direction of the Young Adult Ministry Program and the Young Adult Core Team at St. Aloysius Parish, which plans and facilitates the high school youth group.  Katie has studied Mediation and Dispute Resolution at Southern Methodist University and graduated from Louisiana State University Law Center with a Juris Doctor/Bachelor of Civil Law degree in 2008, and completed her M.A. in Theological Studies with a concentration in Dogmatic Theology at Notre Dame Seminary in 2012.  After law school, Katie was the Assistant Director of Religious Education for the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, where she coordinated the diocesan adult faith formation program as well as other diocesan and parish catechetical efforts.  Katie has also spent some time in fundraising, serving as the Development Director of Our Lady of Wisdom Church and Catholic Student Center, serving the community of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  She returned to Notre Dame Seminary as an adjunct professor of Sacred Scripture for the 2013-2014 academic year.  She currently serves as Programming Director for the Ragin’ Cajun Catholics Student Ministry at ULL (ragincajuncatholics.org) and Coordinator of the Aquinas Institute for Theology and Catholic Studies.
