The rain fell, the floods came…
As Summer (and Hurricane season) rapidly approaches we find ourselves inundated with news of natural disasters in our region. Between the flooding of the Great Mississippi and the deadly tornadoes experienced throughout the South, we are constantly being reminded of the uncertainty of life.
But let us also be reminded of the certainty we do have in the fidelity of our God. No matter what happens in this life, or how far we stray away, our Father will never stop loving us. We can lose everything, but we will never lose His love. Jesus reminds us that the foundations of our lives must be built on Him: Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. Matthew 7:24-25
We lift up our hands in prayer for those who have lost their homes and their loved ones in the recent tragedies. We also pray for those going through emotional storms of addiction, fear, anxiety, loneliness, and suffering. We lift up all soon-to-be-married couples and graduating seniors, as the month of May marks a new beginning in their lives. We lift up our newly ordained priests and deacons; may the sacrifice of their lives for the Kingdom of God touch many hearts and save thousands of souls.
We specifically pray for these intentions through the intercession of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Hasten to help us!
